Loreto Connects With Chinese Education System

Loreto Community School, Milford has introduced Mandarin Chinese as a Transition Year module. It involves both language development and cultural studies. Chinese is potentially a new course in the proposed new Junior Certificate curriculum.

During the mid-term break, a teacher in the school, Ms. Margaret Corless travelled with five Head teachers to Beijing as part of The Principals and Chinese Programme Co-ordinators Official visit to China 2014.

The excursion was organised by the UCD Confucius Institute under the sponsorship of the Hanban Confucius Institute Headquarters. The group, accompanied by Mr. Chang Zhang, visited two secondary schools in Beijing and several key attractions.
